Lumbrokinase, a fibrinolytic enzyme obtained from earthworms and historically used in Traditional Chinese Medicine, is believed to function by breaking down fibrinogen, a protein that can accumulate in blood vessels. 

Nattokinase, another fibrinolytic enzyme but derived from Japanese natto, may help maintain the body's natural clotting and fibrinolytic processes. Serrapeptase, also known as serratiopeptidase, belongs to the trypsin family of proteolytic enzymes. Like other proteolytic enzymes, serrapeptase aids in breaking down proteins into smaller molecules. Today, serrapeptase is primarily isolated from the non-pathogenic bacteria Serratia E15, found in silkworms.
